Follow up on Re-amemiya intercooler install

Kevin should get a kick out of this. I bought this intercooler from a guy saying it was a complete kit... well it wasn't. There was a small red pipe that was missing and it caused a bunch of problems. It ended up just taking 1 pipe getting made, some home depot stuff. a few new hose clamps, custom bracketry... And my favorite.... Some Sawzall time.

Here is the old thread:

Here are the pics of it finished... sorta.

Now it's time to take it all back apart and paint those pipes. Does your strut tower bar still fit?

Stock radiator?

Won't cutting away the horizontal frame bit (where the hood latch used to be) reduce the rigidity of the frame to some extent?

Honestly i doubt the "Sheet metal" That is the Radiator support does anything other then support the hood latch. It doesn't even screw into the radiator, so technically it doesn't support that either. If you could see behind the intercooler there would be a 3 inch steel reinforcement bar that provides structural integrity.

It actually does change the flex of the front, and you can see it when you jack the front corners up (from the tow hook points), but this is not that big of a deal since it's really a crush zone.

With the hood latch gone, how do you secure the hood?
This is one of the biggest reasons not to cut it off.
Did I miss the hood pins?

I've made brackets that bolt on behind the headlights for hoodpins. I could take the same material and weld it in just below the intercooler piping and regain any structural integrity lost...
