intercooler pipe from the greddy fmic kit hitting the brake resivoir what to do

 

Trim that last pipe that bends to the TB? Trim the front part of the pipe?

 

I trimmed/cutoff the end of that last pipe. About an inch.

 

I just tilted mine up a little, but I don't have power steering.

 

Ditto...GReddy owners should also be aware that the coil pack by the battery will hit the IC pipe. I believe a relocation bracket was included in the kit but mine was missing. Let the coil sit and rub on that pipe too long and it will wear through the metal. Either relocate the coil or mod the pipe. I haven't had the time for either so I temporarily have a silicone connector zip tied over that area. I'll make a new bracket for the coil soon.

 

Yeah, I just trimmed the upper part of the last pipe and tilted it up too (I don't have PS either). For good measure I used a zip-tie between the extra mounting hole (doesn't work for a S4) on the pipe and a hole on the bit that comes off the oil filler neck. Or whatever I just said.....

Has about 1mm clearance!

 

Yea there is a bracket for it. It uses a maybe .25-.5" metal spacer donut and then a flat piece of metal to mount against the fender. Even with the bracket there isnt much clearance.

BTW I just bent the lines for the brake reservoir and the actual reservoir is slightly tilted but no ill effects.

 

Nice engine bay. Any way we can get a shot of the intercooler and how you mounted it?

welcome to my world. you're gonna have to move that alarm horn probably. i mounted my coil pack right where you have your horn with self tapping screws.

your setup looks almost exactly like mine. i even have the same radiator, stock fan shroud, same bov, same strut bar... weird.

also, does that pipe rub the PS pump? mine did but i took the pipe out and crushed it a tad so its slightly oval shaped and all is well. i also grinded a bit off of the pump.

I had to remove from where it was screwed in to clear the pipe and had no alternative but to zip tie it for now.

For the TB pipe I put it in a vise and ovalized it to get it to fit. I'm glad other people know my pain. Overall it wasnt too bad.

EDIT: How much air do you get coming out of your BOV? If you stand 3 feet away from mine and I rev to redline at idle there is so much air being vented that it feels like a blowdryer right in your face. Not sure if that is normal but yea it's venting good.

 

1) oval the pipe that passes the PS pump to get a bit of clearance...still expect it to be rubbed and transfer vibration to the strut tower unless you have solid motor mounts, in which case it's a moot point because you get vibration regardless with those.

2) get 2 home clothes drier vent hose clamps and put those around your brake MC reservoir, to prevent leakage and play as a result of the pipe rubbing against it as the engine torques side to side during driving.

3) I just tilt the pipe up over the reservoir personally, and make up the angle by placing the coupler halfway angled between it and the TB adaptor, then put the clamps on tight. IT's also possible to trim that pipe, or add another flexible joint to the bend.
