Flywheel thought.

So every once in a while i get an idea (GASP) that i think is worth mentioning so here goes.
Lightweight flywheels are pretty pricey.
why not just mill down a stock one?
put it on a metal lathe and have at the back of one of those *******!
or is that a bad idea? only thing i can think of is the counterweight being a problem causing inbalance in the lathe

Yea you would have to mill around the counterweight... Then it would be horribly unbalanced...

the thought of it would be removing rotating inertia from the edge, staying away from the center, where the counterweight lies, dunno would be cool if it worked . . .
