Flywheel

Im in the market for a new flywheel. I am presented with a regular flywheel or one with "7.25" what does that mean? I plan to get 400+ hp and if that means a bigger clutch to hold it down I might need just that. Also I plan to get this hp by turbo means. Should I get the "turbo" flywheel or will it not fit on my engine/tranny?

Your question is very vague, is your car a T2 or N/A?

Since you are looking for 400 horsepower, I suspect you will be doing a T2 swap?

If you are going to use the N/A tranny (Which I don't recommend) you can use the non turbo flywheel

If you are swapping in a turbo tranny, you can use the turbo flywheel

If you want to use an aftermarket flywheel, you would need a counterweight of the same series as the engine. s4 to s4, s5 to s5.

How much money do you have? 400hp will be disastrous with a tight budget.

Whats the problem with the N/A tranny, is it that weak? -.- Everytime I look into this it gets more expensive.

Lol. NA tranny will probably take around 200 whp, unless you baby it. IE no clutch dumps/kicks, no launching hard, no powershifting, etc.

The rear end however is said to take around 250 whp. I don't believe any of these have been proven, but that's the general consensus around here, IIRC.

And if you're going from an NA car to a full TII swap, it will be expensive. Entire TII drivetrain, TII motor, TII harness, ecu (unless you go standalone...which is a whole different story...)sensors, etc...

I will say it again. If you don't have the money for it, do not look for 400hp. You WILL regret it.

I'll leave it to someone else to chalk up the list of required parts and prices for this.

Easy, here's the list for 400 hp.

-TII engine with Tranny 1050$ for a decent engine (always verify compression 1 out of 8 engine is good)
-TII wire harness (ebay)
-TII AFM (ebay)
-TII boost sensor (ebay)
-TII pressure sensor (ebay)
-Fidenza flywheel 300$
-OEM counter weight 147$
-720cc injectors (mandatory for 400 rwhp)
-TII drive shaft (ebay)
-TII differential (ebay)
-High quality pressure plate and clutch 400$
-T78 turbo 400$
-2x1 feet intercooler front mount 300$
-Piping 200$
-Exhaust manifold for T78 200$ atleast if its custom, more expensive if its AM
-Whole exhaust system that can take more than 1500 degrees 1000$
-BOV 200$
-Polyurathan engine mounts 150$
-You sure dont want to run this on stock brakes (if your not an idiot) so 1500$ for the whol kit.
-Koyo radiator 250$
-Electric fan 2950cfm 200$ (I suggest a perma-cool)
-Block disassembly for 3mm apex seals (mandatory for 400hp)

I'm sure I'm forgotting some. And that's if you want a job well done with a reliable engine that wont blow up after 1000miles.

I also suggest you remove OMP and run it on 2 cycle engine oil mixed with your gas.

Not an easy job and a very expensive one.

not all that is totally necessary, but its a good idea. The swaps gonna be money hope you have it. You will gonna want a hole new clutch assembly for that kind of power, and you will also need a new rear and trans. if you want to keep your transmission and driveshaft, and differential. then you shoul will have to shot for lower numbers people say not to go over 230 on the na drivetrain. you could do it in steps though by the turbo motor, put the na flywheel and clutch assembly on so it works with your drivetrain. then buy the turbo2 drivetrain and new clutch and stuff.. i dunno how every you want to attack it, fair warning its money lots of money. dont just think about parts if you plan on doing it yourself you need the tools too.... sorry got alot to say my cars been in my garage for 7 months working on a t2 swap. she'll be worth it.
