fluidyne radiator question

hi, i have the fluidyne radiator and the cap is 21lbs of pressure, just wondering if i replaced it back to stock pressure 13lbs...will i lose the performance and cooling efficiency of the radiator? or just lowering the pressure will just cost a lower boiling temperature and thats it??

i heard from a friend that a supra guy running a 21lbs fluidyne radiator and blew the radiator

I wouldn't run a cap that would pressurize the cooling system to 21 lbs! For every 1 lb increase in psi, you'll have a corresponding increase of @ 3.25 degrees. This would raise your boiling point to 280 degrees. A stock cap would be fine, 13 lbs=254 degrees, unless your in a very hot environment and racing for hours on end.

Turbonut is right.&nbsp On a street vehicle, you really shouldn't be going over 14-16psi of cooling system pressure.&nbsp Excessive pressure can also add unnecessary stress on the hose, connections, and water pump.&nbsp Higher cooling system pressures also tend to cause coolant leaks...
