fluid problems
fluid problems
My the little cylindrical bucket that holds fluid for my clutch keeps drinking all the damn fluid. I don't see any leaking fluid puddles under the car so I'm not sure where the fluid is going. What do you think needs to be replaced the slave or the master? How do I find out which is causing the problem?
just follow the hose from the container down to the slave and feel for wet spots, it's not going to leave pudles on the ground unless it's dumping the whole bottle every few days. could be the hose too, check to make sure the bleeder is tight.
Its' obviously leaking somewhere pretty badly. I would replace the master, the slave, and the hose. Better to do it all at once. They are like lightbulbs, they tend to all go at the same time.

Sounds like the clutch master cylinder. You said you have no drips on the ground, and you lose a bottle a day. The fluid is going inside the car. Look at the top of the clutch pedal, and where the rod on the clutch pedal meets the master cylinder. I'm betting that the fluid is running down the wall there and is saturating the matting under the rug. That has to be it if its true that there is no evidence of fluid on the ground or the interior of the engine bay.

My clutch master wore out last year. The fluid runs down the firewall under the carpet pad. NAPA has rebuilt cylinders. A 12mm deep well socket with a swivel drive makes it easy.
