FLOOR JACK! Anyone have/know one low-profile to enter frm front.

I'm getting tired of needing assistance to raise my 7 from the front. Evertime I want to raise the two front wheels, which is most of the time, I have to either put a couple of 1" blocks of wood, or use another jack to "pre-jack" my car so that my floor jack will slide under the front end of the car --to raise it.
Anyone know of a good low profile jack. I've already looked at those "racing jacks" everyone seems to be selling, but those seem to be for raising the side of the... like nascar type thingies.
I want to be able to raise my car from the front.. stick it in and raise it
I've seen these floor jacks made by "AC hydraulic" (UK) that is like 3.5 inches at it's highest pint, but seem to be a bit pricey, and have no idea where to find them locally (Los Angeles).

This is one of their floor jacks that is 3.5 inches for 16 inches length-- then raises to 6.5. But they also have that is 3.5 inches all the way. Just couldn't find the link right now.

Thanks for any help.

meh, I bought a 2tonner from walmart for $69.99 last year. It fits fine, is only a couple inches high, and extends a good way up.

the other advice i could give you are a set of ramps with a 17degree or less incline (again walmart) has them for about $20 for the set. drive right ontop them and you'll have a 3-5 inch lift to get your jack up decently.

Prejacking is a pain in the ***. I bought a crappy $30 jack from Target that I use to get the vehicle up far enough for my Husky SUV jack to fit under there, and then go to town and support it on my jackstands once it's up. It's a bit of a pain, but I've never ran into a jack that works without prejacking and lifts it high enough for my stands to work (my big jack and the stands are made for trucks.)

for 200 bucks you can grab an aluminum racing jack made by craftsman from sears. a bit pricey but low to get under any lowered car.

Yeah.. I was at Sears today ready to buy ($199) but realized that that too it still to high to "completely" roll under the front end of my 7 (pretty much stock). The Sears racing floor jack is nice but is still to high -- it's about 6 inches high which is the same hight as my seven at front. I plan on changing wheels soon so then it'll really be too high a that point. A max height of 5" might be what I'm looking for-- I think.

Here's the problem. I don't want to work on my engine when it's hot. So if I have to move my car on to some wooden blocks I'd have to start it. BUT we all know that if you start a 7 then turn it off just to move it a couple of inches, we face the "cold-start" problem. So then I'd have to let it run a while... you get the point right?
This is what I'm doing now... unless I prejack.

Get a low profile aluminum jack from your local kragen/shuckers/checker auto parts store. They're about $80 and they are very low.

Are you running an aftermarket front bumper or some kinda lip?
My Zenki turbo FC has no problem using most floor jacks, but it's not dropped absurdly low.
If your car is lower than this, it's too low.
If you insist on having the car this low, then live with it.

If you're going to run the car that low or run an aftermarket bumper or front lip, it's a small sacrifice to live with.

We work on several customers cars with aftermarket front bumpers, and the owners understand the extra hassle to jack the car up due to their mods.

Easiest way I've seen people work around this is to have a pair of low-profile ramps (usually nailed long pieces of plywood) enough to lift the car up to get under with a jack.

Neither of the floor jacks I have can fit under the front, especially with the lip- '89TII. I have ramps, but if car cold, I use a scizzor jack on the driver's side frame and lift it a few inches then roll the jack under the front. Leave the scizzor jack in place so that when the car is lowered it will remain on the scizzor jack so you can pull the floor jack out. Occationally I will slide the ramps under the wheels when car raised, and then when I let the jack down it will settle on the ramps.
Just an FYI-I made ramps out of 2 x 6's standing on edge. As the front lip is just slightly higher then the ramps, I can drive up on them with no problem.

I have one, not sure what kind it is though. It slides under the car fine, but I have to use a screwdriver to jack it however.

If you do a search for "aluminum jack" I am sure you will find info on ones from Summit or Oak harbor freight as the 3rd gen guys who track their cars talk about this alot.

I use a regular floor jack and jack it from one of the front tow hooks- it is a reinforced area. My car is lowered.

I have two pep boys jacks, and I put one under each front lift point (behind the wheels), and give each a few pumps at a time until the car is raised up.

Just drive the car onto two strips of wood. Nothing fancy.
