Flooding while car is running?
I had a problem with the car sputtering and stalling while idling (first time it's ever happened) then I tried to restart and it wouldn't start. I did the basics - checked ignition, fuel, hand-checked compression and they were all ok. Spark plugs were wet with fuel so I unflooded the engine by pouring some oil in, pulling EGI fuse and cranking then starting it properly. Engine fired right up in a big smokeshow and seems to be running fine now. Is it possible for the engine to become flooded while running? I'm wondering what the root cause of the engine stalling could be. Thx.

Any FI motor can flood anytime.
If it's an electrical problem like a ground short in an injector wire, you should get a CEL.
Old fuel injectors can stick closed or open.
Some combination problems can make it flood, like a disconnected coolant temp sensor in combination with a disconnected fuel pressure regulator.
A badly worn AFM can also screw up the ECU's fuel computation.
