Flex Pipe????
Flex Pipe????
hey guys, is it really that important to have flex pipe in your exhaust system? guy at the muffler place charged me $120 for a test pipe made from flexpipe. he told me without it, me exhaust would start cracking without it. It makes sense but is it really this true??? The RB TB doesnt have flex pipe why should mine?? -alex
The stck system doesn't have flex pipe.
I highly doubt it's needed.
We have rubber mounts everywhere holding the system so I don't under stand how flex pipe is needed unless you weld the exhaust to the car.

What!!!! that dude is trying to take you for a ride. You can buy 6 feet of that crap for 20 bucks at walmart, and then weld 2 flanges on it. And i bet you it wouldnt hold up to the heat of the rotary. your exhaust wont crack with soild steel, thats what the rubber doughnut are for, is to absorb all the bouncing and stress. I have the racing beat presilencer and its amazing, and i can garentee that it will never crack. You need to tell that dude to take his 120 bucks and shove it up his ***.
P.S. nobody uses flex pipe, unless you have to ghetto rig something for a short amount of time.

seriously go tell him you want your money back. maybe he thought it was a 3000gt or something (those have flexpipes). i wouldn't let him touch your car again if he's that much of an idiot to call himself a mechanic

Is it necessary? No...HOWEVER, the place where the stock exhaust tends to crack (middle of main cat) would indicate that a flex pipe would help out...But to use one in a "test pipe" is unnecessary.
