flat power band
i have a 91 gxl with k&n filter paceshitter headers no cats 3 inch piping all the way back with duel magnaflows.
i get a preaty good power on the lower rpms untill i hit about 6k anyting after that in flat all the way to redline
what could be the problem?????

Check that your VDI is opening. It should activate around 5500 RPM. Have someone rev the engine up to about 6K while you are watching under the hood. You can see the actuator rod turn by looking between the runners coming out of the expansion chamber. You should be able to see it turn.
On my '91 it is a kick in the pants when the VDI opens under heavy throttle. I also have a header with no cat, and K&N filter.
Mine used to flatten out as you describe at about 7K. I recently cleaned and port matched the intake manifolds, and had the injectors serviced. The engine now pulls very hard past the redline. Don't know how far it will go, haven't had the nerve to find out.
