First porting/polishing job
First porting/polishing job
ok these are my old half bridge ports (they were ported very very poorly, and i didnt feel comfortable using them agian, so i practiced on them) tell me what you think. for my new motor i want a small street port or to just polish the ports to help airflow. i also had no templates to go by. so i just ground it down until it looked good to get an idea how the metal takes to the stones. for my motor i will probably use some sandpaper to finish up the ports.
here they are.
(i used the 10$ ebay sanding set and a dremel) Dremel set

(person who ported the motor originally did the "brow", will remain nameless (you know who you are) )

and what i originally had to work with.

The new ones look pretty good to me, except where you let the stone skip across the face. Even if that happens on your new engine irons, it's still useable, just not what you want to have.
thanks. yeah i got better at the end. after i learned how the metal and bit reacted i guess to each other it worked out fine.
btw what size of port would that be considered?

glad you put a retraction on the brow becasue it really sucks. Otherwise, your on the right track. When doing the ports you should stop a bit before your mark or line with the cutting tool and finish that last little bit with your stone. One of the mistakes I see guys make is cut right to the line then try to clean up and polish. that last little bit can take you toooooo far.

Which bits in that set did you use? The ones with the pink heads by chance? You didn't use any type of carbide for the porting did you? Eventually I'm going to try and port my own motor. I've had a lot of experience lately with my manifolds and TB, but porting the motor is a lot different and I'll need to be a lot more careful
