I would be seriously concerned that I had ruined my motor if I had coolant boiling in the overflow bottle...

Not much help, but nonetheless

just ... check to make sure u dont have a hairline crack on the top of your radiator. I had it happen to 2 of my stock radiators. Mine was sucking in air and putting bubbles in the system causing cooling to be HORID. I thought it was the coolant seals but it was just the stupid crack. I think when you drop the hood on the stock plastic radiators it slowly cracks the top.
If it is sucking air in it is SUPER hard to see cause you dont see any leaks. Check all around the little plastic square on the top, mine went right with the lines of the square.

Now I have full metal radiator.

So you drove without a temperature gauge and coolant came boiling out. On top of that, the way it was worded it seems you drove it after finding this.

For all I know it's not a bad thing, but since you don't know, isn't this one of those better safe than sorry circumstances?

hehe... figured it out... yes im stupid to drive with out a temp guage. it ended up that for some helish reason the fan belt (the only one on there right now because no ac or powersteering) stretched... i figured it out because i tightened it this morning and no heating probablomes thoguh out the day. but tonight i was driving it and the overfill started goin at it again. i pulled over and this time the belt was totally dominated.

time for a dual alternator pully!!!

thanks for the help, p.s. anyone one know how to wire in the temp guage to a jdm harness? i have absolutly no clue on how that thing works....

+1 , I use a mechanical gauge in my car because i wanted something more accurate than stock and I was having problems with the car overheating myself (1/2 way on s4 stock gauge) and coolant did boil out the overflow like what happened to him a couple times to me before getting it fixed, but after when the gauge was installed while i was having the problem was 200 degrees and it would hit this temp in a very short time, it ended up being a bad clutch fan.

Since replacing the bad clutch fan the car runs 175-185 degrees. I have had problems before with the coolant buzzer going off to add coolant twice but hopefully now the problem is fixed , engine has only 3000 miles on rebuild so its doubtful the coolant seals are gone especially since the highest the gauge went on the stock was only 1/2 (didnt have mechanical installed at the time) , but anything about 3/4 and up on the stock gauge on s4 is where its overheating badly.

Cheese and rice homes! Settle the hell down! I told you I would sort out the rest of your problems this weekend!

Good christ... You keep this up and this car will be blown before I can save it!
