firewall (banjo) side of fuel rail soaked in fuel

ok last year when the cold weather came i smelt fuel driving so i popped the hood and found fuel on the banjo bolt side of the fuel rail... i tightened this up and my problem seemed to go away, fast forward to today a year later, first day of cold *** weather and i smell fuel like crazy.... same leak same place... is it the copper crush washer or what? i really dont want to drive it right now but im at work 2 miles from my house and i have to go home at 1.... has anybody had this problem before... is it possible for a banjo bolt to actually fail or is it more than likely the washer or fuel line hose.... thanks in advance

your fuel line hose would only leak if it is crack, has a hole in it , or loose from the fitting ,the washer could be warped or loose, your best bet would be to remove and carefully inspect the parts for wear and tear, if need be , replace them. it could also be loosening from the impact of driving conditions in your area , i would suggest applying some locktite to the parts before reinstalling them.

Relieve fuel pressure? You mean let the fuel system relieve itsself down your arm?

I've just used my fuel pump cutoff before working on the fuel system. Some pressure is left, but not much. You can pull the fuel pump relay under the dash for the same effect, or I'm sure some magic with the fuses under the hood might work too.
