Angry Finally got the car to start,But!!!!

Hey yall, I bought a 1987 rx7 turbo about a month ago that the guy had sitting for 4 years. Anyway It needed a few parts.I put the car back together and started it,But everytime I drive it and then park it ,the car dont want to start instead it floods. The only way I can get it started again is of course take out all the plugs and squirt tranny fluid in it etc. What will make the car loose compression like that? When the engine is running it has power. Please help.

Drive and then park? How far are you driving? Is the car warmed up before you shut it down? Also you do not need to pull the plugs everytime to unflood it. Just pull the EGI fuse and crank for 20 seconds. The put the fuse back and it should start up.

You need to get some compression numbers...

Get a tester, take the check valve out, pop your trailing plugs, pull the EGI fuse, and see what ya get...

If the car sat for 4 years without being run, there's a VERY good chance that some apex seal springs have gone flat, and aren't pushing the seals against the housing very well (if at all). Unfortunately, there's really no good way to fix this short of a rebuild.

You can band-aid the flooding problem with a fuel pump switch (search). Cut off the car each time by turning off the fuel pump & letting it run out of pressure (takes 3-4 seconds).

But, yea, get compression numbers. I'm betting they are either erratic or very low.

Well its usually when I run it for a while that the car don't want to start.Of course now the car is starting and seems to be running fine..What im doing now is changing all the intake and exaust manifold gaskets because its burning oil bad.
