Finally got car to idle, it still has a problem, help needed!
Ok so I finally got it to idle but it has this slit problem. it's a 87 n/a. when i start it with will rev up to 5000rpm with clutch in and in neutral, after a 30 secs it will drop down to 1500 rpm and idle somewhat alright. sometimes i have to step on the gas to make it drop down to 2500 rpm. I've tried to adjust the idle screw and it doesn't seem to do anything.
I think maybe the throttle cable is a little tight and maybe the t/b is sticking? not sure!
Any help would be great.

mine does the same thing, but it doesnt go to 5k, it just goes to 3k, but if I tap the gas it will drop right to where it is supposed to be. It is something to do with the trottle sticking.

Um... Yah, you're car's supposed to do that. Probably not to 5,000 rpm though.
Rx7's have a cold start feature where when you start the car, it will rev to 3,000rpms for 30 seconds (? don't remember exact time), then it will drop down until it reaches idle speed. If you touch the gas or put the car in gear before the 30 seconds is up, it should drop down to normal speeds.
It's not the throttle sticking.
However, for the first poster, check for vacuum leaks and make sure everything is connected, your problem might not entirely be related to the cold start feature.

you know its funny i TOO just got mine idling BUT i have a funny feeling its the idle coldstart.....it hold 1500 for a whiles...i have to drive around for a bit before it hits the 750-800 idle range...and even then some times it goes up some times rarely though but its smooth as hell...so im not really complaining but im going to do the throttle body modd next weekend along with blockoffs and i suppose ill see what happeneds!
