Question Few questions about my 87 TII

My speedometer stopped workin awhile back and I found that the end of the speedo cable was dragging the ground. Ive read somewhere that the cable is a two piece deal. Is that correct? How do I know if the cable is fixable or not? I know where two non turbo cars are that I can get parts off of and they are manual trannies and I know that TII trannies are better but are the speedo cables the same? My last question is about my door panels. My driver side door stopped opening...the interior handle feels like its not connected when I pull it. How can I get the door panel off to figure out what happened if I cant open the door? Any ideas yall. Ive been slowly repairing all thats wrong with my car since I bought it. And im trying to finish it by this weekend.....Im ready to drive it again.
O and one more thing I am wondering. I have my exhaust off and Im about ready to put it back on but Im curious about the downpipe gasket. Should I replace it even if its not broken just to be on the safe side? Its kinda expensive....50 bucks...sheesh. O and one thing I just remembered...why isnt there a gasket between the cover on the wastegate at the back and the wastegate itself? The cover you have pull off to port your wastegate. Seems like that would leak exhaust bad. And if anyone can give me a website with some very good parts prices let me know. Sorry about all the questions. Thanks yall.

I think a cable off of an n/a will work. Not sure about the two piece deal?

With some finaggling you can probably get door panel off enough to reach some part of the latch mechanism. After this a littl einspection will tell you what is wrong.

I would opt to save the $50 and re-use the gasket, yes this does leave a little more room for a leak but I have had success with re-using these.

Using gaskets on parts that see such extreme working enviroments is problematic as far as reliability. It was more worth while to risk a small exhaust leak than to sell a product with a re-occuring large exahaust leak.

Prices for what? Used parts? Use the forum, or ebay. New? That's up to you, Mazdatrix has a good online selection.

Ray Crowe for your new parts 1-888-533-3400 let him know your on the forums.

i re-use my old gaskets with a little rvt gasket sealer to make shure they dont leak.

the door pannel is held in place by 5 screws holding the pull handle on, 1 up by the door handle, and then a fue along the bottom of the door pannel. then GENTLY pull the bottom of the door pannel off. just be careful!!! if it wont come off check for other screws. there will be some resistance becouse of the "cristmass tree" clips that allso hold the dooe pannel on.you have to un do the electric conections to if you have power windoes, locks, or a light on the door pannel.

as far as i know there is no gasket on that rear housing on the turbo, the meatal seals against itself. if there wasnt anything there when you took it apart there shouldnt be anything there when you put it back together.

Good Luck and keep us posted!!!!

Does Ray Crowe do business on the side or does he own a business? Just curious. Thanks.
