Talking A few powdercoated items.

Heres my -RE elbow, and my FC3S.org motor mounts.

The color is called "Silver Metaflake" and its bitchin. Theres a clearcoat on top of it. Cost me $20. If you look one of the motor mounts, you can see a reflection of itself in it. Pictures just do not do the color justice at all. Its very sparkly. Im going to have my UIM and LIM done too, can anyone else think of any other parts to get done? I was thinking of taking the engine cradle up there

Yeah, ive been thinking about the IC pipes. Didnt know if I should coat them, or polish em. Still wondering if I should dissassemble the throttle body to get it done.

I find when I take stuff apart (like the TB) I usually end up rounding screws on it or some crap. Not worth it to me.

However, coating the IC pipes would kind of insulate them... So, it might not be a bad idea.

Tony, I think you will find you are going to end up cutting the RE Intake Tube down: A LOT!

What Exhaust manifold are you running? If its the HKS, you will need to modify your engine mount. Been there, done that, Got the shirt

Very nice Tony.

Silly question: Just the exterior of your pipes are powdercoated though, right?

Have to keep that idea in mind for my RE conversion. Looks great!

I was hoping I wouldnt have to cut it down, maybe making a real lazy "s" down to where the IC pipe is going to come in the bay. But, ill find out once the engine is sitting in there and im test fitting things.

Im running the stock S5 manifold.

Did you do that yourself, or did you send it somewhere to have it powdercoated?

A suggestion for more things to powdercoat would be the pulleys on the front of the engine.

i used to work at a powdercoating facility
and u can powder coat any part that will carry an electric current. You cant powder coat anything that will have extreme temperatures either, even though powder coating is much stronger than paint and can take more abuse it would still burn off on headers.

Its funny, when I was there the guy showed my some parts another customer dropped off, from a Porsche 928. The castings were so shitty, it made the powdercoating job look like ***. He said it was the worst castings he'd ever seen from a Porsche.
