few more questions...

1. should i be able to rotate the 5,6 ports by hand or should i get a vaccuum thingy?
2. when the car idles, the stick vibrates a lot, is that normal?(by stick i mean whole engine) if i turn on the a/c it smoothes out.
3. i just changed the plugs in my car, and it backfires like crazy while warming up. normal?

thanks.

1. Not a good idea. Put some grease on the Port actucators. The actua arm that moves the port. Drive the car hard. Open the hood and see if the grease shows move ment. Hign milage rx-7 means possiblely stuck. Go to arron cakes website.

2.If the car vibrates a lot, it could be a number of things. It could also mean low compression on one side of the rotor, Injectors are clogged, bad ignitor line or coil. Try doing a tune up.

3. Check your boots and make sure you bought NGK's and not cheap plugs.

for th 5th and 6th port actuators on my car, my dad just put a little grease in them...let them sit for about 10 then just hit them till they moved right I guess it worked for us, but they work good now.

the engine supposedly is a factory rebuild with 6k and the car itself just passed 80k. the wires and plugs are ngk. i'm going to try the grease trick soon. it had been sitting for a while though so i think i'll try to clean the fuel system too.

My car used to shake badly when sitting and idleing. Engine, shifter....everything. Put in some competition motor mounts from Mazdatrix and it is rock solid now.

It was about $95 shipped for two (one for each side of the engine). Best money I ever spent.
