i didnt think about it, but instead of my bypass valve, which is unfortunately already shipped; i could fab something like the plates supertrapp uses, and i wouldnt have to carry a full second exhaust. anyone have any thoughts on that or difficulty in making that happen?
I defense of earl (even though I have only heard bad things about him) his car is unique, and original (for the most part). He went with the diamond cut here because it kinda had the theme. I think it may have actually been vinal, not real steal. But anyways...
You drive your car for a week with full exhaust.
Then drive it for a week with an open header. Then tell us which one is better. Because I can tell you from experience that running open header eats your power up. I ran my car with vacuum leaks and no auxilary ports, and so one day I decided to fix those problems, and I did, and I took off the exhaust doing something else in this process so I ran it with that and saw a drop in power. Now if you can tell a difference in power loss, it may be at least 20% power drop, on our cars (low power) that's huge. So I put my exhaust back on (now with vacuum sealed up right and aux ports working properly) and I saw a huge increase. I can down shift on the freeway from 3rd to 2nd and bark the tires a few times. That's with a RB header and K&N intake.... no porting or anything. To realy get the RX-7 experience, get the intake system working tip top shape, get your exhaust in tip top shape, and make sure your cooling systems are in tip top shape. People (especially us) respect a car that is well built and not just chopped up. A car like that to me screams "I didn't think that one through..."
I agree with what's already been spoken, you will like it for about 5 minutes at most, I changed my mind before getting it out of the driveway.
The most valuable knowelage is experience. So just go for it if your not going to listen to us. Write it up, document, post, (prepare for more flames that your exhaust), and most importantly, learn. Good luck.
