.... soo any updates? RBAutosports is off line. anyone else found a source for the adapters? or has this just died away?

fc3s91 05-06-09 12:52 PM

Im off line for a short time. Im working on the website.
Thanks Robert

rotorican85 05-19-09 02:12 PM

does this contraption fit a S5 LIM to Cosmo UIM?

NJGreenBudd 05-19-09 09:57 PM

I don't see any for sale myself right now but the ones from ebay worked out okay for me. I do like the way mine is coming along, the FD UIM looks good with the new intercooler setup.

man that looks freaking awesome
the stock radiator holding up for u?

need RX7 05-19-09 10:42 PM

Very nice, NJ. :icon_tup: I'm thinking about just going straight to v-mount when I go turbo, skip right over the TMIC/FMIC stage.

NJGreenBudd 05-19-09 11:04 PM

Thanks, the stock radiator should work okay, probably, but I've yet to run it like this. I have all the temps of the coolant and air intake logged from the previous setup to compare to. I'll post up when I know the actual #'s.

luckyfd 06-07-09 03:00 PM

hmm......

misterstyx69 06-07-09 10:44 PM

If any of the guys that Have DONE this mod(fd Upper on a TII lower) can Give me the WIRING info for the FD TPS connector.
I need to wire the Connector to the Harness.
will the FD tps work with an RTEK?.( I need to know that too!)Thanks Guys.STYX.

Furb 06-08-09 01:57 PM

find the wiring diagrams for both tps sensors in the stickies.
colour codes are exactly the same for both, so just follow the diagram and you're set

for the FC you have 1 fullrange wire, 1 narrow range wire, 2 positive and 2 negative.
with the FD tps you have 1 of all, so you need to connect the positive and negative together

NJGreenBudd 06-14-09 07:55 PM

Series 4 TPS
-Orange - (+5V)
-Green/Red - Signal
-Black/Red - Ground

Series 5 TPS
- (2) Brown/Black - Ground
-Green/Red - Signal (Narrow range)
- (2) Brown/White - (5V+)
-Black/Green - Signal (Full range)
The ground and VREF wires are doubled in the harness in this particular build, because the car has two TPS units.

Series 6 TPS
-Brown/Black - Ground
-Green/Red - Signal (Narrow range)
-Brown/White - (5V+)
-Black/Green - Signal (Full range)

Got an enclosed TPS in your hands with no flying leads?

When looking directly at the FD TPS (when the push tab release is up), there are 4 pins.
1 - Ground
2 - Signal (Narrow range)
3 - (+5V)
4 - Signal (Full range)

It works with Rtek 2.1 for me.

I have a greddy FMIC. I need an elbow that doesnt point so close to the front.

Does anyone make a elbow for the fd throttle that points a little more towards the left side of the car, instead of going straight to the front?

NJGreenBudd 06-17-09 10:16 PM

You want the piping to go more towards the fender right? Well if you look at all the FD setups they all have the GReddy compression tube and a bend to get the correct angle. That's what I ended up doing for my VMIC, you can cut what ever bends you need out of a J pipe. I actually had two make two small bends to get it just right. You can also see some of the new ducting around the radiator and intercooler in this pic.

initial D is REAL! 06-17-09 11:22 PM

the picture didn't load, it could be my comp. Yeah, I want it more towards the, but if those are the only elbows available, I'll just have to refabricate that section.

How much are those greddy elbows costing?

NJGreenBudd 06-23-09 07:48 PM

The elbow from the 20B setup looks like the perfect shape but it probably doesn't fit the FD throttle body. I wanted mine to be a straight shot and was kinda surprised when the FD elbow came, it was more of a bend than I had planned for. The GReddy FD elbows are going for $90 shipped on here, $125 on e-bay.

TOOSHORT_88 06-24-09 01:16 AM

You having any problems with your car boosting super quick but kinda bogs down?

fc3s91 06-24-09 12:26 PM

Ok guys, I should have my first samples back next week. I'll let you guys know if the adaptors are ready to be sold.
Thanks Robert

NJGreenBudd 06-25-09 01:17 PM

I have yet to get it on the street, I just got it running perfect last night, I had left a big hole in the LIM open and had a MASSIVE vac leak that kept stalling the engine. I put the bolt back in the hole and I have a perfect idle, hopefully we will be able to road test tomorrow.

I'd suggest trouble shooting just like you would if you had the FC UIM, check for vac leaks, make sure everything is tight, no boost leaks, etc....

TOOSHORT_88 06-25-09 02:03 PM

I think its my AFC NEO..... It will not reconize the throttle signal and i just learned yesterday that i have to adjust the fd tps (closed) to 1k ohm... She wont idle below 900 and rumbles and pops under deceleration ...

Do you get a free Cheery with every Spacer?
..On another note.I got the whole she-bang together.I put the FD upper on.I got the IC mounted.
then I am going Hmm.what about the IAT sensor?.It is different.
GUYS: if you use the FD upper, you need a FD IAT sensor and a Connector.(.so,So far..FD TPS Connector, and FD IAT and connnector) to do this swap.

I finally Discovered "manage Attachments"!!..Woot!
so,Finally!, here is my Project!..except for removing the N/A engine and dropping in the TII engine(thanks to Vipernicus42 for the extra set of hands.) I have done everything on my own.
Now,before I get criticism, all the Clamps are because they didn't make a 2 inch to 2.75 inch Coupler.
Cheers,Styx.

Looks good.

I am bumping this Up.Some Lads have been asking about this swap...(hey,you may get some Business out of it!)

Looking good Dave, everything is really coming together!

Whats up with all those tbolt clamps by the turbo?

fc3s91 07-20-09 03:55 PM

If you guys are wanting to do this I have 3 left.
Thanks Robert

They didn't have any couplers that take the 2 inch Turbo outlet to a 2.75 inch pipe.So I made my own "step up's"..2 inch elbow to 2 inch pipe...2" to 2.5 inch coupler to 2.5 inch Pipe..2.5 inch coupler to 2.75 inch pipe....then 2.75 to the intercooler, stepping up to 3 inch Cooler inlet..Hey it works~!
I am putting in a T70 anyways,so this is Just a "get the Stupid car started and going" set up!

Hey, I got my fd throttle body and I have a small issue. I was fiddling around with it and I notied when I pull the throttle linkage open all the way, the upper 2 plates aren't 100% open. I can take my hand and push it about 1/4" so the top 2 plates are WOT. ANyone notice this issue? I didnt see any adjustments, and the small link that opens the 2 upper butterflies seems ok.

Yes, I made my own link between the primary and secondary throttle plate shaft so that the primary opens the secondaries all the way,

does this adapter require me to port match? I thought the point was that I wouldn't have to...

Looks to me like the ports ARE matched, you just need to flip it around. You will need to match the bolt pattern of the S5 lower studs.

nope, I have the side with the fat middle section on the FD UIM side and it's still not fat enough. flipping it over just makes it worse because the middle section is even thinner.

If you look at the fd ports, they just dump in. The only port matching you need to worry about is the S5 lim.
Thanks Robert

that's not really how air works... why wouldn't you just match both ports? it would have taken just as much effort...

I'm going to have to port my FD UIM now. yay

the gap after the opening will create vortexes where air will swirl into the low pressure area (the gap behind the UIM) and then swirl backwards towards the opposite direction of the incoming air causing turbulence and a smaller vena contracta....

This will also cause a pressure drop. A proper adapter would not have any sharp edges. A smooth transition is the only acceptable method.

Ok guys, Im not going to make theses adapter anymore. Im tired of you guys crying about minor porting on the fd uim. I tried to make it nice and affordable adapter. You can now by them from FEED and pay $428.42 plus shipping or buy the Greece one that looks like it was hand craved. Im not here to make money , I was making more because I have 10 pms a week asking to make them.
Thanks Robert

What's wrong with constructive criticism about your product? It's not like anyone's saying "OMG! DON'T BUY THESE! THEY SUCK!!!"

From what I see, people are identifying the one place where this product could improve upon, in order to make it the best it possibly can be.

I don't understand why the majority of retailers on this site overreact when they see the first post that doesn't 100% speak highly of their product. fc3s91 isn't the only one that does this, and it's a shame it happens at all. I would welcome the feedback and either improve the product or leave the product as is because the costs of improving the product outweigh any possible profit that would be made by selling the product at a slightly higher price.

The problem is people think its is cheap to make theses with taste. The old adapter style cost me a bundle to make and made no money on it. So I stopped making them. Than I had tons of people asking me to make them again. So I did it with less angles. Yes there is minor porting to do with the fd uim. If you want a perfect fit than don't cry about the cost. Thats all that im saying.
Thanks Robert

no, and you wouldn't want to do it anyway since you would also loose your secondary injectors...
