FD Transmission in a FC
FD Transmission in a FC
besides gear ratios, whats the diffrenece between the two. Is the fd transmission any stronger? and besides the pull type clutch is there any install problems? it would just be mated to the 13 bt
Back in July I emailed Rob @ pineapple racing about getting my S5 TII transmission rebuilt and some cryo treatment because I want to make some big power. This is what he suggested.
"If it was me, I would buy a j spec for an FD. Put your bellhousing and
tail housing on it and call it good. You get double cone synchros for
2/3rd. The tranny holds over 600rwhp."
"If you swap bellhousings it would use your current clutch."

The input shafts for the transmissions are different lengths.
Changing bell housings won't solve the engagement problems because of this.
There's a thread in another section (Rotary Performance?) on this.
The gear ratios are exactly the same versus a Kouki FC turbo...at least the 5th gear is.
"Double-cone synchros" don't give you better strength - it just gives you better engagement if you don't know how to rev match.
