Does anyone know if you need custom fabrication of brackets to fit FD seats? Has anyone done it? Give me input please if you can.

Much appreicated - Chris

Your search button must be broken???

They don't fit without custom mounts/ brackets...

you may wish to use the search function found in the upper right hand corner of the page

yeah i did it right after i posted, i found that out already, but anyone have any pics of 89+ t2 seats? i'm curious about those as opposed to 3rd gen seats for bucket and style purposes. any opinions? oh yeah, and frabicating the brackets for the 3rd gen seats won't be a bother to me. but someone please give me their opinion on the 3rd gen seats vs. 89+ T2 seats. thanks

I dont know about anyone else but first time i got into an FD it felt like my *** was floating on the seat. But compared to TII seats I feel 'safer' in them then any seats. I'd definitely take the FD seats over the FC seats anyday.

There was a FC for sale a while back that had black FD seats, so yes it is possible. Im 100% sure you need some custom work to put them in.

It will require alot of fabrication work to mount 3rd gen seats Into your car. You can't simply swap seat rails. The rail mounting locations on the 3rd gen seats are closer together than that of the 2nd gen seats.

Essentially, almost any seat you want will work (within reason), but it's the amount of time and fab work you have to do that will determine whether or not those seats you pick are worth it all.

i dont want to be redundant posting the fact that a lot of fabbing is needed..but i have gotten the drivers side seat in my vert...passenger is going on soon...i will tell you that the fd seat feels 1000 times better in my vert.

now i will tell you that when you fab a bracket into the fc..you will lose some headroom..so i hope you arent tall..on top of the lost headroom..where your knees fit under the steering wheel..you will lose some room there too, so if you dont have tilt wheel..its probly going to be tight for you..basically what happens when you custom fab a bracket(that is strong enough to support and survive an accident, and also allow for functioality of the sliders) what you are essentially doing is keeping your fc rails..and putting steel under it, the fc rails will sit on top of your fabbed bracket..which i used square tubular steel to accomplish..it doesnt sound like much when i tell you you lose an inch of space..but in a coupe it gets really tight...youll probly find that your knees and thighs are too close to the steering wheel and your head is brushing the roof. if you want to try fitment..jus take your seats that you are already sitting in and realize how flat they are( they are more parralell to the ground than fd seats) fd seat angle in the front( where your knees are) is much closer to the roof..so if you want to test it out just take a bath towel and fold it like you are putting it in a closet...now place that towel on the front of your seat and sit in it( it will sit on the back of your knee bend and go to mid thigh)..you will start to see that it raises your legs alot. now take about 3 folded up t shirts and put them where your butt sits..it too raises you up alot. that pretty much will show you where you will be sitting after you put in fd seats..im about 5,10 and i barely squeeze into the vert with my fd seats..plus i have tilt wheel..i now have to tilt it all the way up to not touch the steering wheel, with my legs.

i made it work for me and ill never go back to fc seats..fd seats feel like they are swallowing you and at the same time you never notice they are there..that is the best way i can describe them..perfect perfect perfect..but i dont think anyone over average height can do it. like i said if you can get it to work you will never go back...but its not gonna work for all sizes of people.

hope this helps you pm me if you need more elaboration on the fitment.
