Question FD PowerFC in FC?

this should probably be in the Power FC forum itself but it doesnt seem like a lot of people go there anyways. i well know i can obviously just get a pfc for my s5 TII from japan considering i am half japanese and go to japan almost every other summer...or possibly even from some excel shops in america now. all the info about pfc in FC's ive seen hasnt really been new so im just guesing on that. but the reason why i am asking about putting a FD pfc in an my FC is because my brother is rather friends with a local tuner who is very creditable and is going out to cali soon to work on one of the apexi drift cars....or something of that sort because he is buddy buddy with apexi i guess. well, he told my bro the drift cars have a bunch of pfc for different conditions that they can just swap out for the best performance. they have a bunch sitting around too i guess. anyways...being so, he said he would try to get my bro a pfc for his 3rd gen and it would be really cheap, prob a good chance on that. apexi excel shops in cali will prob tune it for him if he gets it. i might ask if he can possible try to get me one but read on first because thats what this whole post is about. if i got a pfc from one of the 3rd gen drift cars, could the excel shops just load up the fc program/maps onto the pfc or would i just have to specifically get a new pfc for my car. also...i read somewhere (whether true or not i dont know) that an adapter for loom (?) and a map sensor are available to replace the FC air flow meter. i suppose that would mean direct hook up from FD pfc to FC? that would mean excel shops would have to be able to just load up a map and all onto the pfc from FD to FC.....right? this maybe really confusing for people to understand...i dont know. its just an idea for me to possible get a pfc for my car really cheap if i can do it. so if anybody can get me some info on if it is possible to somehow hook up, change maps, whatever for a FD pfc to a FC, it would be awesome. thanks

Look in to AP Enginnering. they are the only ones to used PFC for the FC. they only work for the S5 also. I believe they are a moded PFC for the FD. but they are the only ones i have ever heard of using the PFC. good luck, but i personally feel that you'll have to get one of those units, since i doubt you'll be able to mod the FD PFC for the FC.

With quite a bit of stuffing around you can swap an FD ECU into an S5 FC (but not S4). The ECU's are similar enough that the FD ECU plugs straight S5's ECU harness, and then you need to cut and reconnect about a dozen wires to get everything where it should be. You need to know what you're doing to make it all work properly, but his would allow you to then use the FD PowerFC.

Personally I'd never bother actually doing this. I'd rather save a bit more for a Haltech.

The advantage is that a PFC can run all your emissions junk.

So. Your saying I should cut the ECU plugs off a series five, pull the wires out......install my series four wires in the appropriate holes......buy a Power FC .....install it......and live happily ever after? Off to the junk yard with tinsnips! Did I mention the Hyundai 2005 NZ Kitesurfing nationals at Christchurch? This week. Be there.

I wouldn't mind havine a PFC in my FC though I thought it was one of the easier ems systems out there.

$1800 for a FC specific one or a FD specific one with all the stuff to make it work in the FC? if its FD to FC...what extra stuff is there to it other than the pfc itself, commander, and different maps? (such as connections, wires, w/e)
