Fd or Fc??!

I just got a job and will be making decent money... Im 17, and ive wanted a rex forever... It will take me about 6 months or so to save up 5500, which is good enough for a decent turbo 2 and some simple mods... Or, should i wait a year and get an Fd?

Id get the TII for now. Maybe in a few years get a FD. They are expensive as **** to have someone else work on, so I suggest going with something simpler (a tii).

Come on now, you're asking in the FC forum. j/k

I went with the TII b/c it was cheaper to begin with but parts are not cheap! Darnit! Both cars look nice (exterior and interior) but the FD may take less money to do so b/c it's newer.

You'll need more money to buy, maintain, fix, insure a FD. If I were you I'd wait 'till I had a higher income before looking at a FD. (or save for atleast a couple years)

I actually shopped for both a FC and FD and decided on the FC 'vert with a engine swap.

FD's that were not all messed up (funky mods, lack of maintenance by the owner, or blown parts) were very rare. To top that off my previous experience with a 87 FC made my choice a pretty easy one.

Cost wise, it was considerably cheaper for me to swap in a 13BT and driveline into the vert and assorted goodies, than even the cheapest FD.

Also being 6'2" and 200lbs the FD is very tight interior wise.

And ask any FC 'vert and FD owner which car is more fun... I have yet to meet a FD and FC'vert owner that doesn't think the 'vert is more fun.

if I could only have one car - I agree

if I had 2k dollars for a civic daily driver. Hell no. rx8 looks like a s2k as far as powerband goes. Lighweight car with a high strung torqueless motor - yeehaw.

My best friend and I bought our RX-7s around the same time span of about a week. He got an FD, I got an FC. His car cost him more than $11,000. Mine cost me $3,500. After I spend about $4,000 dollars my car will be as fast (if not faster) than his, and handle better. It'll cost him more than $8,000 to have done to his car all of the work I'm having done on mine. I can do most of the work myself because the FCs are so much simpler, but the FDs are so cluttered and more difficult to maintain and support. FCs are definately better cars for starting off.

If you like the FDs that much, use an FC for your daily driver until you've saved up the cash for an FD. Speaking from experience I'd have to say it's a good way to learn the basics of a rotary engine, and not have a mistake cost you thousands of dollars. You don't even need to mod an FC very much if you plan on selling it in the long run, right? Just my two cents.
