Fd calipers and rotors
can i use fd rotors and calipers on my 88 as long as i have the five lug hubs??
want to know because they seem like they would be better then the fc ones

No, they won't fit. The offset on the rotors is all wrong. The 4 piston calipers are the same though (or so I've read).
The FC brakes are more than enough for even road racing with slicks and lots of power. You don't need larger brakes. If you're having braking issues, then get them fixed (flush the fluid with new stuff, get good pads, etc). Bigger brakes aren't the solution to a system that's not working at 100%.

calipers switch right over, but there's no point, they are the nearly identical.

Actually, the 4 piston claipers do swap right over to the 89-91 base model. I've done that, they bolt right up and the rotors are the same, the brake lines even fit.
It's the 86-88 base model that won't be a straightforward swap due to the 4 lug small rotors.

The 4-pot brake lines are a two piece with one rubber and one metal section (metal hard line actually mounts to the caliper.)
The single piston (5-bolt) fronts have two (or in some cases one) rubber hose. (no metal hardline)
