fd alternator ground post

ok after of having the fd alt in storage I finally got into puting on my 86 N/A. but I ran into a problem. the stud that is sticking out for the grounding wire is bigger then the attachment on the grounding wire itself. I've tried switching the fd grounding post with the one on the fc. but it wont fit right because that thing used for hoisting up the engine is getting in the way. is it possible for me to change the grounding wire? or does anyone have any other suggestions?

thanks

There is no grounding post on any alternator, they are grounded through their body. I presume you're talking about the battery post (i.e where the juice comes from).

Fitting a bigger ring terminal seems to be the logical idea.
