FD Alternator + Dual Belt Pulley = Frustration
Alright.. help me out here.
I have an FD alternator with a dual sheave alternator pulley, and the front belt gets annihilated every month or so. In certain (not all) places, the teeth of that front belt will literally be ground all the way down, and eventually it just rips off. Very scary, very unsafe.
Here's my question.. clearly, this setup isn't going to work.. so, I'm going to buy a nice set of pulleys. Should I stick with a dual belt setup, or go back to single?
Do I have to buy an FD-style alternator pulley? Dumb question, I know, but I need to be sure.
Also, whenever that front belt goes out, the very short amount of time I drive with just the belt closest to the alternator connected, it seems that my lights (I have a bit of an over-voltage issue) flicker significantly less, sometimes not at all.
Is the dual sheave pulley really necessary? It just seems to be doing more harm than good right now.
Thanks for any info.

well, if your sig is the describing the car your referring to.. then yes.... under a high load, a single belt will slip signifigantly.. causing undercharging, or the water pump to not flow as it should.... a dual belt help w/ that problem.... it sounds to me as if the pulley is on wrong, or the belts are just way too tight

Yeah, that's what I didn't want to hear. :P
Guess I'll just stick with a dual sheave.
Belts aren't too tight, this has happened 3 or 4 times before, and each time I've installed the belt differently.

And the Revolution...
The pulley has to be adjusted VIA a different spacer or washer I think to line up with the FC stuff completely. Unless its just killing belts because. I would try to go with an FD serpentine setup maybe, if thats possible.
