fcd or reprogrammed ecu?
I'm gonna need an fcd and was planning on just buying a one new for $100. However I've been offered a reprogrammed ecu for the same price.. so I'm kinda torn.
I was scouring the forum and read lots of threads about chips.
The one in question is a N332 modified by superchips.. how does this one work? I've heard that some chips are programmed for your mods and that some are generic and can support boost levels to around, for example, 1 or 2 bars.
Can I just throw this one in to elimate the fuel cut (job done) and have the added bonus of the "so called improvements" or is it gonna cause me to lean out?
TIA

I can't remember if the superchips one is programed for specific mods or not. If it is mod specific, I would think if anything it should run richer than stock not leaner. (more mods = more power, requires more gas) I would go with that chip. Worst case scenereo you could turn around and sell it to someone else and make enough money to get the FCD for free.
I recall there is one MDrace unit (non-mod specific) that will operate up to 10psi (or something), which would prevent you from going lean up to that point. If it is the same as that one then you definately want it. At stock boost levels it could be a little leaner due to tuning, but that would be good.

hmm.. thx for the advice. I really just want it for the fuel cut but to simplify my question, is the superchips ecu one of those modified ecu's that is "universal" like the "autocrossing" models that some companies sell?

I sort of danced around the direct answer, because I'm not certain so I don't want to mislead you. I think you'll be fine and you'll get your basic FCD functionality like you want. However, I'd keep looking because I wouldn't operate under assumptions given by me. I'm not sure if superchips is universal or not.
Didn't mention this before, but I think MDrace and superchips are somehow affiliated.
