i thought the purpose of the 6 speed in the rx-8 was due to the 4.30 rear?

My ideal transmission would be a rebuilt one in my car with a smaller, taller, whatever 5th gear. I'd like to keep my RPMs a little lower when cruising. That's it.

To anyone not sure about what power the FE tranny will take, chew on this. The UK's fastest FB is using a standard FE box, running a 10.91@130mph. It runs a 12a engine, with a HKS T51kai running 25psi and revving out to 12000rpm. A crude car, but effective.

there is a guy in the for sale section selling everything you need to swap a rx8 into your fc... here is what it takes

TRANSMISSION Package: low miles RX8 6 speed, 7's Only (9.5 lb) custom Steel flywheel (for RX8 trans, 3 track days), Quarter Master (7 lb) 7.25" double disc clutch and pressure plate (3 track days), RX8 starter, RX8 shifter, New Mazda Comp 1st gen engine mounts to lower engine for better fitment of RX8 trans, 7's only adapter plate for clutch slave cylinder, aluminum cover plate for trans tunnel (you will need to cut tunnel since shifter is 2.5" forward of stock shifter or you can move engine back and make custom driveshaft)
Looking to get $2,400 plus shipping for this turn key package. Will not separate parts at this time.

and here is the link.... https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.php?t=591070
