FC3s Front mount.... Any good kits?

Hello. Well I started to install my fmic "kit" supposed to be model specific...right. The intercooler itself looks to be of high quality but the fitment of the piping is a joke. I expected to have to cut the holes in the front of the car, but now in order for a "good fit" I think I'm gonna have to cut/re-bead some of the piping. Having the same issue as with others I've read about with the first pipe off throttle body barely clearing brake resevoir. This sucks. I wish Racing Beat made a front mount, because their exhaust fit quite well. I feel that I tore my car apart just to put junk on it.

This is the kit I bought:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_W0QQ...KQ3aMEWNXQ3aIT

Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Make it work. You got it cheap enough. It is a knockoff greedy.

Even if you take it to a professional shop and tell them to modify and make the kit perfect, you would still come out totaling cheaper than the greedy kit. You really can't complain too much.

you have to cut the pipes with a greddy too, no one could ever produce a single kit that could fit every set up without having to cut a pipe

I know it was cheap. I guess I was always spoiled with perfect fit kits until now. I've done alot of work on my Eclipse GSX, Z's, MR-2's, Porsches, etc... and fit was never much of an issue. My car is an S4 AE turbo. The main issue is the area around the damn brake res. and I'm keeping P/S. Alot of people delete everything and wonder why they have soo much room. I'll figure it out though.

What's with all the pics of the RB exhaust? Because they didn't fit well? For the money they could still be much better (fitment wise) but you should have seen the cheapy exhaust I tried before spending a grand on the Racing Beat. It was rediculous and sounded sooooo ricey. I wouldnt even drive the car around the block with it. I'm just happy they still make a nice performing and sounding exhaust for FC's.....he he.

Thanks.

Should have bought the corksport kit.

The most likely reason for your issue is that the greddy kit is based on the s5, which doesn't fit the s4 perfectly. Now consider that your kit is a knockoff of a kit that didn't fit your application like a glove to begin with.....yeah. If you want some perspective, check out the rotary works v-mount kit, tuscanidream had a thread about it.

The rb exhaust is notorious for hanging uneven (perhaps it was designed for new exhaust hangers...on a new car and that's why?)

Cliff Notes: If fitment was really REALLY that important you would have patronized a reputable company instead of buying . crap

I guess I figured if Mazdatrix, and RB didnt have an intercooler for the car I was sol. I didn't really wanna go V-mount since you can only go so big and you have to have the right ducting and so on or they don't do any good besides making the charge even hotter.

FYI: I bought ALL new oem hangers (not cheap) with my RB exhaust. The tips aren't perfectly even in the back, but It was the only true turbo-back exhaust I could see......

Holy s#!t you really have to cut alot of bumper away to fit this thing on an S4! Makes me feel bad cutting on such a clean old S4. Damn mazda for going with such a pewny IC!! They should have copied Porsche with the 944turbo. They are a v/front mount stock! Yeah Yeah I know the Porsche costed much more,, but when a company does something right. Either copy it, or make better. Reminds me of how GM finally made the Corvette a real car in '97 by going with a Transaxle like Porsche started in the 70's with the 928's!

I wouldn't blame mazda because a knockoff company did a half-*** job of copying a FMIC design. The Corksport kit only requires the enlargment of to pre-existing holes...

But it would have been sweet if the FC came factory front/v mount w/ 10-12psi.

most people dont realize you need to attach all pipes and leave them loose, then start twisting them to get them just right near the booster, the thing doesnt just jump right on there and align itself

Lol I like how in every picture of the RB exhaust, the left muffler tip appears lower than the right muffler tip. GREAT FIT!

and most of them dont put new hangers or put any effort into making them straight, never mind the cars are 20-25 years old now.

I bought a exhaust for my less then year old new car and it also was slightly crooked- stainless cools after the welding and can tweak itself a little bit. If these things are so hard to do for some people they should just drive something else and not mod cars because **** like this is easy compared to real issues.

The hangers from the body and from the exhaust pipes can be bent to make the exhaust hang level. It's just a very little thing that is sometimes overlooked when the exhaust is replaced and after dealing with 20+ year old rusted exhaust nuts and bolts the rush to finish this job is understandable. Half way through, after breaking a few bolts and getting rust in your hair and eyes, the last thing anyone wants to do is go under the car a few times to bend the hangers.
