Fc3s Cpu Location
Hey guys, sorry if this is a ***** question...
ive done my best to search thru the archives for it
but where exactly is the CPU located in the series 4
my series 4 rx7's dash lites have busted (they still work, but very very dim) and i can't see **** at night, ppl have suggested poor solder joints on the CPU
and that i should re solder them, surely its not that hard to resolder, so i thought i'd take a go myself
one thing tho, where exactly is the CPU that ppl refer too?
thanks HEAPS and sorry for bein' a rookie

i'm not sure if that will fix your dash light problem, but the CPU is located in the footwell of the drivers side... Behind some paneling, its about a 4-5 inch black box.

the piece your looking for is behind the drivers side kickpanel, where all the buzzers are...Its been about five years since I saw mine, but if I remember right...its about three inches wide, five long/tall and is secured using just one or two ten mm.
Just in case your not sure what the kickpanel is...look behind/ around the plastic piece near the driver's foot rest.

if your qauges and the like are dim (as opposed to the idiot light thing in the center of your dash) you need to work on the light switch itself, this is where the dimmer is, and there are many problems with these. If you search (both google and the forums) there are many expos on the repair

The CPU has nothing to do with your dash lights. If your dash lights are dim or not working and the **** is adjusted correctly, then your problem is a failing light switch or light switch harness or burnt out bulbs.
And here (once again) is the CPU location in North American coupes:
