Fc won't start and LOUD backfires.

I have an 86 fc. 13b na. Was driving fine. Went to start it one day and wouldn't start. Itll turn over but wont crank. So I tried the preferred deflood procedures. And it backfired so loud. My ears were ringing. Sounded like an explosion from a power line transformer. I cleaned up my plugs. Tried again. Back fired that loud 3 times total. Going to do a compression test soon. Could it be flooded really really bad? I hate riding my bike to work now.

You say it'll turn over but not crank? That seems opposing. I assume you meant it'll turn over but not fire.
One way I deflood cars is to remove the spark plugs, one from each housing is fine, remove the fuel pump fuse and really crank the thing for 7 seconds at a time. Do it 3 or 4 times, with a long break in between in order to not ruin the starter.
Then I cheat and clean the plugs with a wire brush, brake cleaner, and heat them up a touch with a torch. Not sure if heating them does anything, but it seems to help a little bit.
Maybe it is really flooded, who knows. Compression check is always a good idea in order to make sure your motor hasn't lost a seal.
