FC S5 RX7 Engine Harness

Any Idea what this copper wrap inside of the engine harness is? Or what is it for? And can I take it off and ground it to the car or does it need to be wrapped for the harness to be working?

there's only 2 shielded wires that i recall in the RX7 harnesses, which are the CAS signal wire bundle and the O2 sensor wire. the CAS is more important than the O2, but this doesn't appear to be the CAS wiring. in fact it doesn't look like any i've seen in a factory harness, so i'm not sure what it is.

Im in the middle of wiring two s5 T2 harnesses (n370). That does not exist on either. People did a lot of weird things over the years like add extra grounds and splice various things in.

It would be helpful to show which "branch" of the harness this is on.
