isn't the whole point of drifting to be sideways and make alot of noise? Wouldn't it be better to mount the wing on a gimbal where the sunroof once was so that it could swing around from side to side and actuall produce downforce as opposed to being thrown into the wind sideways? Oh wait that's right, driftin is done @ 25 mph or less so there's not even enough speed for it to reall be effective anyway..... but wait.... don't drifters not want traction in the rear? What's the point of a wing at all?

At least it didn't turn into a tread beggine for information to put an REW into an FC

I like the fact that no one pointed out the v-mount with the NA hood....

either the owner is a complete idiot or the engine bay shot is of another car....

VMIC with an N/A hood apparantely works just fine..... but not sideways. I didn't believe it either until I started chatting with a different member who did just that and has no complaints at all.

I don't see the point of having a VMIC without some sort of venting. At least with an FMIC, some of that moving air exits from underneath the car.

Wow, I just love all the bullshit comments from people who have no clue on how aerodynamics works...

I'm surprised they didn't try to make it into a wide body.... the wing, the kit, the rims... it all looks terrible...... they even killed the paint with the "ghost" flames.... terrible I say, just terrible.

It is widebody.

Track drifting is done at 60-70mph+

You want some downforce for traction in highspeed drifting.

Jap d1 drivers agree that a wing is necessary to drift an FC at a d1 level.

Where can i get that wing?! I want a BIG one..
Why do you need a high and wide wing while drifting on a lower level than d1gp?
Because it lifts the smoke and gives you a high, wide area of smoke behind your car... Look at a drift movie and you can see the vortexes produced over the wing lifts up the smoke :=)
DRIFTING IS AALLLL SHOW.. and its fun

or you can put an FD waterpump and UIM on and FC motor and have people start going crazy over it.

Anyone who thinks that an FC doesn't benefit from as much rear traction as possible during a drift has never drifted one. The wing is one factor. To be as effective as possible it needs to be set into the airstream, if you don't believe me look at ANY porsche 911 race car.

Two things, again this is just me. The wing being up high is actually better than " in the slipstream of the hatch" as someone put it. The wing is up away from turbulent air near the car, and up in clean air. As someone pointed out, why do the top Porsche, ALMS, Speed GT, etc. run a wing up high? to get clean air, to make the wing work more efficiently.
Secondly, to see how a wing can work while going sideways, look at WRC. In '05, IIRC, Subabru, I think, showed up with a new wing with slats running from the front to the back of the wing. Even Dave Coleman did a great write-up in SCC about the wing. The air hit the slats, forcing the air over the wing, creating downforce at speed and angle, instead of the air just slipping across the wing in a non-functional direction. Now look, they all have them.
And my favorite quote was from Dave Coleman in the above mentioned article. Something along the lines of "... and in a few years, when the rednecks in Kentucky have them that they just got from Autozone, you can ask them, How does that work, and they say, it is a racing thing, and is MaD TyTe!!!!"

Cheers,
Travis

The looks great in my opinion. The wing is cool, it is functional not just going straight but also helps with stability when sideways. Plus drifting is always done at 60-70mph it depends on the track sometimes they get over 100mph easy.

Not sure if anyone else mentioned it but that is not a real FD engine swap, if I am seeing correctly there is a crank angle sensor on it which the FD did not have.
