Question Fault Code Reader

I saw on a website a while back that some one made an engine fault code reader or some sort of diagnosis thingy. Does anyone know how to do this or an easy was to get an '87N/A to tell you whats wrong with it? I picked up a sledge one time and told her what I was gonna do and she started by herself and ran fine but that trick doesn't seem to work anymore. ANy ideas would be appreciated.
thnx

IMHO, the '86-88 code reading function is damn near useless. It doesn't store codes, and it really just tells you if something is plugged in or not - that's it. You can stand in front of the car, look around the engine bay at the electrical connectors, and draw the same conclusion.

What problem is your car having to begin with?
