hey don't forget when you put those new bulbs in, to use a dab of conductive grease to help prevent corrosion problems and light switch failure down the road.

Glad you got it fixed though. Maybe the wire was just pulled a little or something.

Thanks Icemark

This wasn't a case of good smarts correcting the problem. This was a case of good smarts narrowing down where to look with a big jolt of very good luck stumbling into the right place on first shot.

Maybe I should go out and buy a lotto ticket with the money I was expecting to need to donate to the catholic priest to do an exorcism.

Also had this problem creep up out of nowhere. Right turn signal was going double-speed even though the bulbs are fine, tried a different tail light assembly and still the same issue. Sometimes pressing the brakes would make it go even faster, sometimes they would blink normally.

In my case it turned out that the bulb seat in the front turn signal had become so corroded it wasn't making proper contact. I pulled the bulb and used electrical parts cleaner and a plastic dremel brush to clean the bulb seat, and voila, blinker function returned to normal!

I noticed that several of the bulb seats are corroded - so add this to your list of maintenance when replacing bulbs: clean the bulb seat!!

I have a solution.

When you change your bold there is a plastic piece that the bulb is connected to That contains metal components on the side and inside. This piece is called a turn signal socket You can try switching the left socket with the right or the right with left. Ex: if you have problems with the right then switch the left with the right. If all of a sudden the left does not work and the right does then your socket may need to be replaced which you can get by buying a new headlight assembly or going to a salvage yard or junk yard to find one. You can also find a car being sold for parts and just buy that socket.
