Fast idle works Bass-ackwards
1st of all, I've searched. A lot.
87 GXL. No idle at all when cold, idle comes up as coolant temp does. I managed to set curb idle (750) at about 1/4 of the way up the temp gauge. When it gets to operating temp (about 1/2 way up the gauge), I've got a 1500-1600 idle. At that point, the idle adjustment screw can be turned all the way in with no effect on idle.
So I'm guessing the throttle plates are hanging open a bit. Probably that fast idle thermo wax plunger thingie out whack, I'll have to adjust it I guess.
But here's my deal. Has anyone figured out a slick way to set that thing up on an NA? I've took my wife's mirror to it but still can't see sh*t.
Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Removal of the throttle body is the easiest way to adjust the screws etc. Been there, done that. Too hard to adjust from the bottom/mirrors etc. Throttle body comes off pretty easy once you do it a couple of times.
NOT talking removal of the dynamic chamber. Talking removal of the throttle body only.

Thanks, Hailers. I'll sure go that route. I'll see what I get, & let you guys know.
In the middle of all this, it looks like the TPS took a dive. Car won't accelerate, just lopes real bad.
I'll have to fix that first.

Well, the tps thing was easy, cleaned the corrosion off of the spade connectors and wahla! Good to go.
I'll pop the throttle body off tomorrow.
