fast idle after intake porting + unsmooth acceleration (was there before porting)

Yes I have searched many threads + google.
Months ago I noticed one of my OMP lines were broken. so while I had the intake off i decided to port and polish it mildly. I didn't hog the thing out. just a port match and smoothing the bends. Before I did this I had a rock solid and smooth 800 RPM.

Now I have the thing back together and it idles at 1400 RPM. the throttle cable does have a little slack. I cannot close the throttle plates anymore. The air mix screw is all the way in. From it, idle will go up, but any lower. I have no leaks. I used all new gaskets.

Secondary throttle plates have been off for years. So it's not the thermowax. All rat's nest emissions are gone too. I still have the BAC on, there is no change in idle if i remove the wire harness from it.

interestingly, I cut the finger off of a rubber glove and put it over the big vac port under the BAC on the plenum, then put the hose on over that. With that I can get the idle to 500 RPM. It's not smooth, it won't idle any higher and throttle response is poor.
I also noticed that the vac ports on the front of the plenum have to vacuum, or at least not enough for me to feel with my fingers. I have not hooked a gauge up. This isn't a big deal since they are all capped off anyway. TPS is set and working fine.

I don't know what else to do.

I can drive it as is, but 1400 RPM idle is not fun on the street. But that leads me to my second problem that was there before I ported the intake. Hard acceleration is not smooth. It's like the opposite of surging. Little dips in power as the RPM climes.

Get a boost gauge and check your vacuum sources. Maybe dirt is partially plugging one...

That's a good idea. Do you think that could be causing my high idle though? i do have all emissions removed, so there isn't much that need vac.

I am about at whits end, and I'm trying not to give up.

Fast idle... sometimes it sits @1300, other times it bounces from 1.1K to 1.4K. I don't know why it will do one or the other. It will be idling steady @ 1100 then start bouncing after a few minutes, then may go back steady to 11 or 1300.
I know have have no leaks. I used all new gaskets except for plenum 'cause they were out, but I used Honda bond on this. I don't hear any hissing either. Emissions removed, all ports capped. The TPS it dead on.
I was able to get a lopey idle @ about 600 if I plug the air hose going to the hard line next to plenum. then I have to open the air bleed all the way, open the BAC all the way, and advance the timing pretty far.

Could I have left a sensor unhooked, or plugged in the right harness into the wrong plug?

Also, above 3000, it does not accelerate smoothly. Even in neutral. it has several power dips. Don't know why, maybe I have one face bad? don't know, but it sucks. I've been searching and trying for several weeks. though I can't find my shop manual. I've hidden it from myself.

I need to fix this because the tags expire at the end of the month and I missed emissions by 1 (one) ppm. Last year with this motor and emissions delete I beat it my better than half.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I removed the fast idle cam/system years ago. so I know it's not that.

try some kind of flui(starting fluid) to check for vac leaks?
thats what it sounds like?

I did that. I actually used brake cleaner, but it was inconclusive. Sometimes I would spray and area and the idle would start to bounce. I would wait for the bounce to stop and spray again and nothing. I would spray a different area and the idle would bounce... repeat over whole intake area. It might bounce once, it might not. if it did, it wouldn't be repeatable.
All new rubber everywhere. Including OMP lines. Everything is new except for sensors, block and wiring.
I'm stumped.
