hi guys!

some of you may be well familiar with my project



i bought this car back in '05, completely stock, and after countless hours, mods and custom fabrications it has become a serious toy pumping out just over 400hp
put my heart and soul into this car, but times have changed and due to several circumstances it has come to a point to make a choice

it was a tough choice to make, but i have decided not to keep going with the FC..

the market here in Europe prevents me from making some decent money out of it by selling the car as a whole, so i am going to part-out the car completely..
over half of the parts are already reserved by Dutch and UK FC owners

i won't be out of the rotary game, because i will be building something new.
i also have a series 1 929 (piston powered RX-4) which i will be converting to rotary.
for this i will be using the FC engine as a base for a N/A build

i have this build thought out pretty much into details, and this will be a nice replacement for the FC.
most important thing of all: a good, fun, reliable and streetable car that i can actually drive!

trust me, this was no easy decision and at this point i am 100% behind it, because i know this will turn out for the best in the end
instead of maintaining 2 cars, i will have 1 to drive!
since the 929 is tax free, i will be able to run a lot of miles on the same budget

i've been dreaming about an 'N/A build for a couple of years, 20B would be ultimate, but is out of reach financially
but on the other hand.. who the hell needs 350hp in a 1000kg streetdriven car?

it will be a street oriented build, bit controversial because it will be a half-bridge
i found a way to combine low-end torque, good idle quality, low mileage and everyday driveability with 200rwhp potential at full throttle
should be some good fun!

i know its a shame to pull it apart, but if i ask just 15k euros for it (i got more then double invested) people will say they will get an FD from the UK for less.
they don't look at mods or anything, just price and year of production.
there is nobody that will pay over 8k (euro) for any FC

everything is for sale, although shipping from europe would be an issue for most i think
a lot of parts are already reserved, that should bring up already about 8k euro and i am hoping to get at least another 5k out of it

one thing that might be of interest for a lot of you guys is the complete PowerFC, plug and play for FC. if i dont sell it locally before the end of october, i will put it up for sale on this forum

Dude, i am in europe

But 10k dollars is about 8k euros, i got over 8k in parts reserved already..
Thats what i am saying.. a reasonable price to sell it as a whole would be no less then 15k euro but nobody will pay that amount

Now i can make 12k of it and keep the parts i need like engine and gearbox

Tough break. I take it you couldn't drive the FC daily either cause it's not streetable or the high gas prices in the Netherlands? My relatives said it's nearly double the cost per litre compared to here.

Either way, at least you're staying rotary. Should be fun!

Yeah gas prices are through the roof..
almost 1.90euro/L so thats about $8,50/gallon

Taxes and insurance are about $125 a month

all things taken into considerations it has become too expensive to drive, but i've had too much costs to keep it running at all..

Times change, feelings change and oldskool has taken my heart..
I got more fun out of driving my stock 929 then my porsche-killing FC.
Also always on the lookout for cops, cause my tinted windows and exhaust are things they are getitng more and more focussed on..
I've been lucky so far, but one day it will change :P

Build plans for the 929 incorporate everything that will keep the car legal, so i won't have to fear any cops ever again..
Engine swap will be registered, and exhaust will be quiet (atleast up to 3/4 throttle)

Sounds like owning a car is a different process over there, what is all this engine swap register and "tax free" driving? Do you get taxed by the mileage? Is this like our registration fees? How much are these taxes?

Taxes are calculated by weight and fuel
Petrol has less tax then diesel, LPG is in between them

Doesnt matter how much you drive, i drive 5k km max a year, but i pay as much as the next guy who drives it 50k a year

The RX-7 costs 53 euros per month in taxes
I had a renault kangoo a couple of years ago, small 2seater van which weighed only 1000kg, but since it was diesel, it was expensive: 68 euro per month TAX
The more the car weighs, the more taxes you pay

With new cars you also pay 40% extra taxes, plus the fuel economy and pollution plays a huge part.
The new camaro costs 38k euro in belgium, here in holland it costs 82k..
Money sucking vampire government....

Cars over 25years old are tax free, unless you got a car later then 1990, then it will be 30 years.
So a FC from 90 will be tax free in 2015, my FC will be tax free in 2020, IF they don't change any regulations AGAIN...

About the engine swap register...

A car is registered with all specs from factory.
If you put in another engine of the same type, no problem

If you put in anything else, the registration doesnt match the car.
With the annual check it is not really a problem anymore, because they don't have to check engine code compared to the registration anymore
But if you get pulled over for a technical check (which are being held more and more) then you got a big problem..

If you are lucky, you get a ticket and get on with it, but they can take away your papers and you have to get the car checked to get it back.
If it fails, you lose everything..

If you get it all registered, it has become legal.
With cars before 1997 it is easy, they only check the basic stuff just like the annual check

any car later then 97 is checked to the standards of when this car was produced.
Emissions, safety features, sound levels all come in to play.
If you put a rotary into, lets say, an S2K..
it needs to pass emissions and all standard features need to work

There are ways to beat the system, like getting the car registered in the UK first, then "import" the car to Holland. UK has easier ways to get cars registered, you can even build your own if you'd want to (using an existing chassis as a base)

If its registered in a EU-country, they have no choice then to hand out the paperwork..

it's been done..

Car has been stripped, shell has been sold and i am selling all aftermarket parts. Most of the stuff is gone already, probably a couple more weeks before all is gone!

Need it all gone, time for a new chapter...
Going to start my 929 to RX-4 conversion shortly
