Factory spring rate on an 86 gxl?

I'm trying to modify my springs for drag racing to 150lbs. Not sure what the stockers are. Company I'm sending the springs to wants to know what the OEM spring rates are.

Anyone know?

If they're modifying your springs, can't they just put them on a spring tester and get an accurate reading. Chances are your springs aren't factory spec. by now.

Stock spring rates for a non turbo coupe are 130 for the front and 108 for the rear.

But I agree with pfsantos they should be spec'd, as those rates I gave you are for new springs at stock height, not for springs with 20,000 or 50,000 or even 100,000 miles on them.

Where did you get this info from? The drag guys were telling me to soften them up to 150 in the rear?? Those numbers seem very low? Not saying your incorrect! Just that it's not what I had heard...

Thanks

Mazdatrix has them posted on their website?
They tested a set, but there's a disclaimer there - READ IT.
Trust / GReddy posted them in a mag a LONG time ago at 2.0 and 2.0 kg-mm, which is close - 111 front and rear, although the fronts are progressively wound.

Thanks!

Also confirmed by Billy Waits of RESpeed. Although all tests vary a bit. He said about 95# Front and 90# Rear.

remember Turbos and verts use slightly different rates (depending on series) which would explane the differences. Vert rear springs are stiffer than coupe springs
