Factory power door lock actuator on driver's side?
All factory power door lock equipped FC's I've heard of or seen only had the solenoid on the passenger side. Basically, it's a simple system that only locks the passenger side door when you hit a switch on the driver's door. I think it also locks the passeger door via the driver's key lock also.
On to my question...I want to install keyless entry using factory solenoids. Is the driver's door pre-drilled for a solenoid to be installed on the driver's side? I ask, because I would think it would have to be for the RHD cars in Japan, no?

you can buy a door lock actuator from Best Buy etc and then you will just have to figure out how to mount it. I've never done it but a friend of mine has done it on a number of cars... it can be tricky and sometimes requires cutting the metal part of the door. I'm not sure on our cars how hard it is though.

Thanks for the replies. I'm hoping to use an extra passenger side factory solenoid on the driver's side. It seems factory power door actuators only came on the passenger side in our generation, as I stated above. As TII_vert said, the driver's door is pre-drilled, my theory being for the RHD cars (their passenger side). So hopefully the solenoids are the same on both sides.
I'm a purist when I can help it, and want to avoid drilling new holes and rigging things up with universal solenoids.

i got the 20 dollar actuators from frys, i think i drilled one hole for it, it was really easy to install though, i have an 87 sport, sure the doors are pretty much the same though and I have never had any problems with them
