factory equipment??

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum and need some information on 89-91 RX7s. I used to have an 87 GXL that I autocrossed for 2 yrs. That was 4yrs ago and I haven't been keeping up on the new stuff out for RX7s. I'm starting to look for a new autocross car and think that a later model 7 would be just right but have some questions.
What year did the ABS breaks and the air bag start? I don't think I wanna mess with that stuff. I hope to find a car without a sunroof (my helmet never cleared the one in my GXL very well). Are there any major differences in the fuel system or emissions equipment from 89-91? This will not be a full on race car, I will have to drive it to each event so I have to keep plates on it. Did all the later model cars come with the 4 piston front calipers and vented rear rotors? I don't think I have ever seen a 4 lug late model FC.
One more subject, I have seen some posts about add on turbochargers. Are these kits available for the n/a cars or are they upgrade kits for the factory turbo cars? I haven't raced since 98 and plan on getting back into CSP but if things go well maybe with an aftermarket turbo move up into one of the mod classes or ASP. Note: get rule book.
Anyway there you have it, I need a late model FC non-turbo no sunroof 5sp. After that I'm not sure, If an 89 has any advantage over a 91 or ?? Any info would be great! thanks.

just about all your questions have been asked before and covered... you may wish to use the search function in the upper right hand corner.

as too an autocross car, ideally for a NA you would want a 86-87 sport, an 88 GTU, or a 89-90 GTUs. All came with 4 piston brakes and the heavy duty suspension, while not having the things that make a car over weight like all the power geegaws. the GTUs was one of the few series 5 cars without a sunroof, but it will be tough to find a GTUs in washington, so you may consider the other cars mentioned, or shopping in CA.

The series 5 cars (89-91) are all the same for emissons.

Airbags were only found on the 90-91 'verts. All other USA series 5 cars had the lame mouse belts.

There is no turbo kit for a NA. If you want a turbo you should buy one to start off with. Some people have retro-fitted turbos or turbo motors into NA cars but it is costly in either time or money or both.

Also the seires 5 cars weigh about 200 lbs more than the series 4 version of the same car

ive seen a few GTUs's with sunroofs, believe it or not it was a factory option. good luck in finding one in the first place one shows up on the auto trader every once in awhile.

I believe ABS started in 89, and airbags were only on 90-91 verts.
