factory clutch fan vs. flex-fan

factory clutch fan vs. flex-fan
well after 85,000 miles the factory clutch fan has worn clutches. instead of electric fans or replacing the clutch fan($150) i wanted to try a flex fan. it didnt go too well. the rx water pump nub is too big for the center alignment nub, so i reamed the flex fan's hole out. got it modified with a longer waterpump shaft, so the flex fan wouldnt interfere with anything on the engine. finally got it all working properly. by the way it soulds so awsome at 7 grand. one slight problem, FRICKIN HOOD INTERFERANCE!! so should i just put on e-fans like evryone else, or cut the hood braces for clearance. the latter also means that i have to modify the fan shroud.
what do you guys think?

I use a flex fan, yeah the damn conversion was painful ( lots of lost blood) but it does sound awesome at high Rpms, But it doesn't cool it good enough so I have a back up e-fan

Flex fans are terribly inefficient compared to a thermoclutch fan. If you can't get a replacement clutch (Mazda or aftermarket), go electric. Just make sure you do it properly.

and use a 15 inch fan, maybe a 16 will work but I guarantee that 15 inches works if you go through with it.
I don't recommend using a clutch fan though.

The stock clutch fan (obviously with a healthy clutch) cools the engine perfectly. It's highly recommended.
