Question Factory Alarm

Does anyone know how to disable/adjust the factory alarm, my fc has been getting lonely at night (2am-4am), and going off for no reason a couple of times within the last week or so. I used to wonder if the alarm worked anymore, and now she is showing me that she works too well. Or Maybe she is jealous of my driving my big sled, with family being in town for turkey day.

Any ideas will be appreciated

On an 90 GTU you can not disable the alarm as the alarm is built into the CPU.

However you can lock the doors with the key instead of the interior lock latch and the factory alarm will not arm.

That Is provided If your door Is shut with to begin with. If I use my key to lock the door awhile It's open, the Alarm will be activated.

I had mine disabled by having it unplugged at the cpu.

where is that? because my car use to have a viper alarm on it and I completely took it out then all of the sudden my factory one would come on at random times. How would you go about disabling the factory alarm system? THanks.

That is not disabling the alarm, that is disabling half the CPU.

You disable the horn, Key sensors, the seat belt controller warning inputs, SRS inputs, security, dome light delay controllers.

IMO: That would be a very micky mouse thing to do. Fix the car. Don't just unplug what you don't understand.

In therory you could prevent the system from arming by cutting the green/black at the CPU, But I haven't tried it myself to see if it would work.

It would probably still kill the power door locks (if equipped) though.

if thats the only set back I don't think that would matter to much but I don't know if I would like it if a bunch of things would stop working lol, I just got most of the stuff to work period, hehe

if that is the wire I would probably cut it far enough back so I could rewire it if it really messed something up.

Remember that is the grn/black, not the light green/Black and that is on the 89+ models.

The 86-88 models you can just unplug the alarm. It is not part of the CPU (but you should still fix the car and make the alarm work right).

Well when I bought my car.. it was unpluged.. the only difference I noticed was that alarm and key buzzereds worked when I plugged it back in.

This is on a S5, not sure if S4 are different.

No, you must hold the handle UP while closing the door or it will unlock once the door is shut- designed this way to prevent lockouts.
