Fact or fiction:Power windows lighter than manual ones?
Someone posted on here a long time ago(I don't remember who) that the power windows are actually lighter than the manual ones.Does anyone know if this is true and why.Is it because of different regulators or something.I've been thinking power windows might be nice and my parts car has them and the same color interior as well.Just a thought.
I wouldnt say lighter, Id say the same. Ive taken out both, and did swaps both ways. IF there is a difference it is within a few lb, very minimal. Its pretty easy to swap out...if you have manual and want power, you need the doorpanels and switches, and complete motor/track assemblies off of the power window car. Then you gota run3 wires of yor own and youre ready to fly. I will say that the power window doorpanels are a bit bigger and mayb ea couple lb heavier than the manual doorpanels. The motor/track assembles them selves are about the same.
All the glass is the same. There is no difference between power or manual other than the manual windows have slightly different hardware.
The only windows that are lighter are the 'vert ones and that is because they are smaller.

I don't believe they are lighter, they may be just a bit heavier, but not much. i'm currently doing a manual to power window swap, i did the drivers side today, and going to do the passengers side tomorrow. To add to the three wires to the passengers side.... there is only one wire to run from the drivers side (black/red wire to fuse box... use the powere window spot)
