extremely annoying problem

recently the rad hose to the engine blew in my rx, partially in part because it is in fact the stock hosee on my 86. my engine ran nearly dry before i was able to stop. i called a friend who brought me a new one, and we did some quick roadside replacement. we topped her off and let her cool, then away i went, my car running as she were. the coolant and engine temp returned to normal and systems were go.

this is when the problem started. the engine coolant warning light comes on intermittently and frequently, i have checked my hoses and they are all good, and the coolant is full, but that light keeps popping on. the bitch of it is that annoying sound, that buzzer when the warning lights come on or you are redlining. what could the problem be? and in the very least where is that little buzzer so i can bypass it or smash it with a hammer.

thx!

possibly the sensor in the rad that tells it if its low or has air. check all the hoses, gaskets, make sure everything is all in good order. I had a similar problem on my 86, terned out the return hose for my overflow tank had a very small tear on it. I dont know how/why it set off the sensor, but i replaced the line, the buzzer went away.

hope this helps!

You need to bleed out the coolant system. You have air in it if you are getting the low coolant warning buzzer.

thx for your help all. the coolant warning light is going off less and less. the bleeder cap for my rx was snapped off by previous owner so that would explain the air bubbles in my lines. the only other question i have for this problem is is it normal when air bubbles are in the lines for the engine to choke? it seems when the coolant light goes off, my engine starts to oscillate in power.

thx again
