Extra dash lights coming on and over charging

So I finally got my 10ae finished and running on the Haltech, put about 180 miles on it with 0 issues and got it back to work to double check the rear brakes. Replaced the calipers and when I went to start it again with key on engine off the shift up light and every light on the warning pod lit up. Did a bit of googling and saw it usually is due to a bad alt, so I unplugged it and the lights went out. Bought a reman bosch alternator and put it in and now the lights are all still on AND it charges at like 19v off idle and 14.5-16 at idle. Running the Racingbeat double sheave alt pulley and crank pulley. Whats weird is I didnt have any of these issues till I shut it off 3 days ago to start the debacle the rear brakes turned into.

Any ideas at to what Im facing? Ordering a new alternator to see if that was it.

the lights will illuminate with the key on engine off, try going back to your old alternator if you didn't throw it in the box and send it back for the junky bosch one that is obviously actually faulty.

if the lights weren't illuminating before then you probably had a bad connection to the warning cluster, which is quite commonly bad solder joints. so one problem fixed itself and you thought was an issue, and fixed it by creating a new problem. if the lights all remain on when the engine is actually running, then you have a charging issue.

make sure none of the wires at the 2 prong connector off the alternator are broken, touching each other or shorting to ground. those wires tend to fray and break quite often.

what is your battery voltage at statically(everything off)? if below 11v then you could be looking at a dead cell which is causing the alternator to full field full time.

So we did end up putting the old one back in and it runs between 13.8-14.3 so it's spot on and with more research and looking at wiring diagrams we found that those lights were supposed to be coming on with the choke and charge relay so it was probably partly to blame. The battery sits at lowork 12s with key off. Just seems like we over reacted with all the new lights then I got a junk alt to replace it with. However we did find the double alt pulley is starting to go so I'll be ordering a new one and try a new alternator and keep this old one for a spare.

We also put new connectors on the wires going to the alt as like you said they were starting to fray right at the connector.

unfortunately a lot of the remans are junk, because they don't bother testing alot of these units before shipping them.

Yea I was really hoping going with a decent name would help. One perk of running a parts department is sending them back and getting another one is super easy.
