Exterior door trim shrunk

I was going to reinstall the door trim after the body work and paint and the trim for both doors is now shorter by an inch or two from when I took it off. How do I unshrink it?

As far as I know our old surrounds could probably use some rubber rejuvenator. I am curious what others use for this. However, I am not convinced that shrinking rubber is totally to blame. I recently saw a reinstall online that had the same issue. Stretch as you install, it might take a couple tries. Over lap and cut the access for a tight seam. Kinda curious where the seam is supposed to go as well. See if you can find a video tutorial, someone please correct me if I got this one wrong.
