exhuast questions

Im in the process in getting my cat-back replaced (RB) and maybe a bonez superflo.

question: how good r the OEM cats in terms of quality and lifespan.

i plan to hollow out my pre-cat, either keep the OEM or get a bonez then to a the RB system.

i dont want it really load, but is the superflo worth the money in terms of performance, lifespan, quality, sound..........over the OEM unit

thanks

ps- i have a 91 coupe N/A

if your going to buy an OEM unit you need some KY lube on your way to the dealer. The Bonez is VERY inexpensive if you price the OEM ones from mazda. I think they are over a thousand dollars from mazda.

I agree. The thing is with a car this old, the orignal cat is going to be in terrible shape so you can't keep it on, but at the same time Mazda charges like 1500 for the stock cats.

On the other hand, the Bonez cat is better for perfomance, allowing more exhaust flow, and it still does a good job of actually working as a catalytic converter. Not to mention it's made for a rotary so it can take the heat.

Right now I just put on a Racing Beat catback and am saving for the cat... my old rusted POS cat is pulling my car down big time, not to mention making it smell.

Take your stock cats off, seperate the first two, and gut the crap out of them, leave the main cat alone for now, it'll hold up for a while yet...put everything back together & reinstall on the car...You will be very pleased with the performance increase, and it cost you nothing but a couple of scraped knuckles & some cussing at rusty bolts...
