Exhaust ?'s

I'm looking to do an incremental upgrade ate on my exhaust and have a few questions - 89' vert. I've already searched and read a lot but am not a pro and still need some clarification/confirmation.

1) My plan is to replace the pre-cat & cat now, then replace the stock exhaust later. Does this make sense?

2) If I put RB pipes from my stock manifold to my stock cat-back, I know I probably won't pass emissions but can't I just swap the stock cat/pre-cat stuff back in for testing? (I used to do that on my '79 and it worked fine.)

3) Do the RB pipe(s) connect to the stock manifold and exhaust without mods?

4) Alternately considering the Bonez SuperFlo pre-cat & cat. What's the diference between this and the RB pipe to my stock exhaust? (hp guestimates?)

1. Yes if you plan to run without emissons
2. Yes if you plan to run without emissons
3. The RB downpipe and pre-silencer or the RB header and pre-silencer will bolt to the front of the stock y-pipe cat back.
4. Better choice for emissions. But compaired to a down pipe and pre-silencer there will be probably be about a 3-5 HP difference on a N/A.

Thanks.

No need to frown on the emissions. I only run my RX about 3-4k per year now so I don't think I'll be killing any spotted owls.

Is it healthy for the car to leave the first cat, then straight pipe the second cat, the resonator and lead it to left single muffler?
